Rest

My will states that I should be cremated and then my ashes and the ashes of my dogs buried together with a marker in a cemetery in upstate New York which has been, to a small extent, a family cemetery.

But in an article about “art coffins” that they make in Ghana, I almost want to change that to the Premum Obama Finest Lagar Beef coffin.

I think in some cultures — many cultures in fact — death is as scary and frightening as it is to those of us in the United States, who are fat and lazy and uncomfortable with just about anything that challenges us. But I think because it’s more open there, people, in general, treat death with the same imagination that you get with music.
