The news that Galliano has withdrawn from the Met Gala costume party is good news, although what we’re getting, of course, is not the actual story. What almost certainly happened, especially after Alice Tisch wrote to the board and told them to drop him, (What they made public is that her email said it was a ‘failure of governance’), is that they told him to gracefully withdraw, and he did. But it prompted me to try to find my review of the movie/documentary they made about him that I saw at The Quad. The movie seemed self serving and Galliano seemed like one of those sorry/not sorry types.
(E.G., he had presumably never heard of the holocaust and didn’t know what it was, according to the rabbi that had given him his cultural lessons. Except his conviction was for praising Hitler, and telling some other patrons at this cafe that they would have been in the gas chambers. So right there, even after his conviction, he was lying to the rabbi. He wasn’t seriously interested in finding out why he was so offensive. He hates Jews then and he hates them now.)
But I realized when I looked at “the dashboard” of my review web site or whatever this is supposed to be, that I’ve got more than 200 pages and I have no way of finding anything. So I’ll be looking to add a search bar, using Duck Duck Go, I hope. And not google. Fuck you google, for going along with Trump’s lunatic Twitter presidency and renaming Lake Ontario on your maps. Did he even bother to sign an executive order this time? Or was it too much effort to take his dick out of your mouth to see if it actually needed to be done.
